Computer Vision Syndrome refers to eye strain and discomfort caused by prolonged use of digital screens such as computers, mobiles, and tablets. Symptoms include blurred vision, dry eyes, headaches, neck pain, and difficulty focusing.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
1. Follow the 20-20-20 Rule:
Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This helps relax the eye muscles and reduce fatigue.
2. Position Your Screen Properly:
Keep your monitor an arm’s length away and the top of the screen at or just below eye level. Adjust brightness and contrast for comfort.
3. Blink More Often:
While staring at screens, people tend to blink less. Make a conscious effort to blink frequently to keep your eyes moist and reduce dryness.
4. Use Proper Lighting:
Avoid working in overly bright environments or with glare from windows. Use blinds, anti-glare screens, or adjust your room lighting to reduce eye strain.
5. Wear Computer Glasses if Recommended:
During your eye check-up, Dr. Jagruti Desai may prescribe special lenses designed to optimize your vision for screen distance and reduce strain.
6. Take Regular Breaks:
Rest your eyes and stretch your body every hour. Even a 5-minute break can greatly reduce physical and visual fatigue.
